Going on a beach vacation with kids is always a delight. Along with soaking the sun, your kids also get a chance to experience marine life up-close. In this Pottery Barn Kids video, Senior Manager of Guest Experience, Jim Covel talks about how to introduce kids to nature and to tide pools.
Beaches are a great place for families to visit. It helps children know more about marine life and makes them more sensitive about it. When you take your kids to a tide pool, it is important to make them understand that the tide pool is somebody's home and they shouldn't damage anything.
Jim suggests not to pick things up from the tide pool, instead, tell children to go close to the water and carefully see different creatures. Also keep an eye on the ocean, because waves are always coming in and somebody may get clobbered by a sneaker wave while enjoying a tide pool.
To explore water animals with your kids, it is not necessary to live near the ocean or a shore. You can take them to the Monterey Bay Aquarium or simply plan an outing with your kids to some stream or pool in your area and have fun with them.
