Ben Austin, State School Board member and executive director of Parent Revolution, which organized parents of McKinley Elementary in Compton Unified, discusses the next step, now that parent petitions calling for turning over their school to a charter operator has been submitted to the school district. Blogger John Fensterwald caught up with Austin after the Dec. 15, 2010 State Board meeting in Sacramento.
"We are not naive". What pandering is this? You do believe that some parents are naive so you have used us as your puppets to get to your twisted goals of enriching your pockets and those of your supporters with our children. If you care about children, how come you did not do any real reform while you were a member of the board of education? You only pushed requirements that only led to more failure. BEN AUSTIN, THE SCHOOLS ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COLLAPSE OF EDUCATION, YOU ARE!!!!!!!!

If you want the signatures validated, why did you get a restraining order against the necessary investigation? Are you afraid that the investigation will reveal how much of a fraud you "parent" revolution really are?

Ultimately what schools can and cannot do is established by what you at the State Board of Education determine. It is you who determine what curriculums schools can and cannot use. It is you who have some say onthe finances. If schools are failing, it is because of incompetent board members such as yourselves promoting failure through such incompetent ideas. It is as you said, education is designed to fail. Who designed this failure? YOU DID!!!!

I have read your posting on the Huffington Post. You don't know crap about what is really going on at McKinley. You have never come down to see the school. You have never seen the teachers in action. Yet you go on to spit out the lies that your corrupt organizers have spat. Shame on you. My son's education is not for sale.

If you are a member of the board of education, why are you representing Parent Revolution? Why have you declared war on public school instead of implementing real reform? How much money are you getting from the corporations?

YOU BIG FIGHT LIAR!!! I am a parent of a student in Compton and I am opposed to charterization of the school. Change has come into Compton years ago. You have threatened progress.
We parents have been lied to by Najera and other Revolution Organizers. We have been told that we would be deported unless we sign YOUR petition. We have been told that it would be to beautify the school. Now Celerity has come around to bribe us with your lap tops. I will not pimp my child for you.
