Good impact Vid. I shoot 2 different .243 a tika ( preT3) and a HR super light.
I use 57gr Horn V max at 3900 Fps ( chronied) ion the Tike. It groups 3 into.228
" 100 meters. Took a coyote, front on at 30 meters. . pILL DID NOT EXIT. Rag dolled the dog and left a real good hide. The superlight shoots 100 gr. at 2840 frps.. good for jumpers.

@TROOPERfarcry but, the heavier bullet will compensate with a larger pressure wave, resulting in explosive damage. It's pretty cool how ballistics is one of the few earthly sciences left that leaves plenty left to study and observe.
-
@IllinoisCoyoteHunter No - respectfully disagree. A heavier bullet would have had more penetration and LESS explosive. The extra penetration wouldn't have helped on the watermelon.

One dead watermelon. R. Lee Ermey would be proud.

if you used a heavier bullet would it have done more damage? Or is it that the faster the rounds go the more explosive potential?

yes, a heavier bullet (say 100 grn softpoint) probably would have taken out the entire watermelon with one shot. The lighter bullet is more frangible and explosive upon impact.
