Strangely, it's in Australia... hence the description of the video:
"...brand new board, Sandy Point, Australia..."

@jcadlols If you got balls of steel (to ride a board at these absolutely sick speeds) you don't need weightbelts :D

how deep is it there ?
jezcol 5 months ago
@jezcol it's mid- to low- tide at that point I think. So he's probably sailing in about 4-5 feet / 110 - 150cm of water on the line he's sailing. You can see the guys closer in are up to their waists. At dead low tide further down the bar it gets deep quickly so you sail along six inches from the sand dragging your hand along the beach... apparently. I've never done it because I'm not anywhere near as much of a nutter as this guy or his mates.

@RideSlideDive Hmm so not such a smart idea to put a hobie 16 on the water there
jezcol 5 months ago
@jezcol You'd be fine with a Hobie 16 - it gets deeper. Another few meters out and he'd be in minimum 2 metres of water. People launch motor boats and go out through the inlet to the sea, so a Hobie would be fine. Good safe place when it's not blowing 35 knots.

You are so lucky having that location to sail on; nothing like that over here in U.K where I am

@proprioceptive44 West Kirby isn't bad by all accounts. Portland Harbour is good for speed sailing, as is apparently Southend, although I've not sailed there. But yes, Sandy Point is pretty epic.
