Thank you very much for this posting! Svend Asmussen and his sextet (and later quintet) became my first musik idols. I was 12 years old when I saw them the first time in a cabaret performance at the Circus Theatre in Stockholm.

Thanks for posting this. Svend is one of my favorite jazz fiddlers, closer to Stuff Smith than to Stéphane Grappelli. I was thrilled to see him many years ago at a jazz festival in Nantes, France. Great ideas & phrasing. The art of the duo.

BG tried to get Svend in the mid-'50s for his small group but strict immigration laws made it impossible for him to work in the U.S.

Great musicians! BG and Svend kicks off tentatively, and just because of that I'm prone to beleive this tune was made up backstage just the minutes ago that Benny says! And whatever Benny comes up to Svend is there to counter and play beyond! Svend has perfect pitch as is a selftaught musician!
