Tube Lines: Environment Report

Welcome to the third annual environment report from Tube Lines, the company rebuilding the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines in partnership with London Underground.

We have come a long way. After achieving ISO 14001 certification** for Go Green, our environment management system, in 2005, we have been focusing on improving our environmental performance as we continue to carry out essential construction and maintenance work across the capital.

Highlights of the year included the completion of the largest green roof of its kind in London, an improvement in environmental efficiency achieved through new innovations and equipment, successful recycling of millions of newspapers left on trains and stations and a significant reduction in energy use at our Westferry Circus head office.

* In line with the standard rail reporting periods the exact dates are 1 April 2006 to 6 January 2007.

** This ISO 14001 accreditation covers all Tube Lines activities with the exception of Distribution Services Management which maintains its own ISO 14001 accreditation.
