My Akita was 140lbs 27" at the shoulder solid muscle I used to take him running everyday sometimes me riding a bike and Bull next to me. A mile or 2 a day he lived 15 yrs. When he git older we 'd just walk after he was about 10.He had great genetics as he got older he ate less and dropped to about 125 or so but always got his walk. He'd bring me his leash in his mouth.

Won't you have problems with a male Akita and a male Bordeaux together?

@rahuldasfilms we had to rehome the dogue de bordeaux last year as 3 dogs was just too much, but his new mommy brings him over to play with the akitas every few months and the dogs are get along fabulously, they are all best friends :-)

Very nice. Dakotah's going to die young at that weight -- what would you say would be healthy for him, 125?

@aeiou99999 Dakotah's been stable and healthy the past two years at 136 lbs, he'll be 8 years old this christmas and the vet is happy with his current weight and shape. he eats very little for such a big dog (raw diet and grain-free kibble) - he really *is* big boned. but yes he was overweight in that video, our dogsitter was feeding him to death behind our backs :-(

it depends on the genetics of each dog... in this case the akita is bigger than average and the ddb is smaller-boned than average but until the puppy is fully matured at around 3 years of age, there's no way to know.
