First time performing this song for others (had to look at the words). Looking forward to seeing how it evolves over time as I change the words and develop the melody.
Lyrics (not as performed):
Oh, I love the springtime
even though she can never quite make up her mind.
She told me she could be calm again.
But I don't know when winter will end
because
I don't like when I have to check the weather before I go outside.
I can try sometimes, but I don't think I'll ever know exactly why
it's so sunny and thirty five.
I'm just waiting for July.
I play it cool during the thunderstorms.
She might be beautiful but it doesn't matter because she isn't warm.
I hope that soon I can put away the coat.
It's been way too long since I heard sweet songs
when birds sing their simple little notes,
and
I don't like when I have to check the weather before I go outside.
I can try sometimes, but I'm not sure I'll ever know exactly why
the cold just can't subside.
I'm just aching for July.
She cries hailstones
to crush my soul.
They melt away
and roses grow.
Until the wind blows,
until tornados.
Why do flowers and showers go together?
I'm afraid that she'll be like this forever.
