The system does not work at that speed. The car was going too fast.

@cvm169 i think the seat has a weight sensor that only launches the airbag if there's weight on it

Just goes to show, pay attention to the road and don't rely on your car to stop itself for you. Always keep your foot on standby for the brakes in case of an emergency. I think if more drivers did that, there'd be fewer speeding crashes. Too many people are just focusing on getting to where they have to go, so an unexpected curveball has them fumbling and panicking for the brakes, and that's how you get crashes!
