Thief stealing X'mas presents in Los Altos

On 12/26/10 at 9:04AM, we had a package stolen off of our porch in Los Altos, CA. Here's the footage from our security camera of the theft.

Mail/package theft is SO common. Mostly it's meth addicts looking for cash, checks & gifts to trade for drugs, OR sensitive docs to use for ID THEFT. Mail theft is actually one of the most common ways ID thieves obtain your sensitive info. Use a security locking mailbox like Mail Boss to keep thieves from stealing your bank acct statements, check acct #s, etc. Also, never send sensitive mail from an unsecured mailbox. Shred all sensitive docs before discarding them (most come in your mailbox!).

I think they probably know the neighborhood well because they work there, but not live there. They are probably maids/cleaning ladies, maybe Mexicans. Their junky car gives them away. That woman sure is confident of herself how she swings that arm as she hurries back to the car. I'm willing to bet that they had been casing your neighborhood when they were in the vicinity cleaning some of your neighbor's homes and have done it before. Ask your neighbors about this car and woman's description.

Everybody, if you setup a camera, be sure to aim one where you can get a clear shot of their face. It makes it so much easier to identify them and it makes it easier for the prosecuters to make the charges stick.

This is all too common during Christmas time. These people are probably on drugs. Where I come from this is called porch-peeling.
