While sitting at a great railfan location in Ashland, Nebraska, I heard an eastbound go through a detector west of town. So I set up the video camera to capture it as it passed when from the east, I heard a westbound approach. From this position, you normally hear westbounds sound for a grade crossing anout 2 minutes before they arrive, but I didn't hear this ones horn. After the DPU passes on the westbound, you can see the eastbound going through the wye to go north to Sioux City, Iowa. Too bad it took longer than 10 minutes....

I used to live in the Omaha area and I would go to Ashland a lot with my old 3 35mm cameras and my VHF UHF scanner. Always a lot of action. Got to talking with several track inspectors and signal maintainers. Ashland was always a great place to watch BNSF rail action!

Been a while since I've been to Ashland. May go there this weekend. Or Oreapolis by Plattsmouth, NE.
