i have a set on my mustang but am having issues on keeping water stains etc off the lip, how or what do you clean yours with?

Flowmasters get a bad rap because many install them improperly, they are made to amplify bass, kinda hard to do with an exhaust leak

If it's not a cat-back system, then what is it dumbass. You didn't list any other exhaust mods, if you even have any. And sorry, but no the failmaster 40 don't flow more than the stock c6 mufflers. Flowmaster 10's do flow more than stock, but sound bad.
