WOW wasn't the first graphical MMORPG. Neverwinter Nights was - and no, not the recent NWN series of games you're probably thinking of. The first graphical MMORPG game was called Neverwinter Nights and was published way back in 1991. MMORPG's have been around in various forms since then. WOW wasn't out until recently in 2004. Everquest, Ultima, and many others, predate it. So no, it was actually inspired by other games itself, and was not the original - just the most high selling.

Would you guys stop comparing all the new MMORPG games to fricken W.O.W ?
Game Devs are trying to gert new games out there and at least they're trying and you guys can do is bitch about it and call it a "ripoff"
