Plot:
Beautiful Boy is an unconventional love story that explores the journey of a married couple on the verge of separation, who must live with unimaginable heartbreak, and find healing through the darkest days of their lives.


Bill (Michael Sheen) and Kate (Maria Bello) hopelessly try to find some hint of an explanation after finding out that their only son committed a mass shooting at his university before taking his own life. They struggle numbly through the funeral, the media onslaught, and the awkward pity from relatives and friends. Their already strained marriage is tested as they realize all they have left with each other is their shared grief and confusion-and the unfortunate legacy of their son. This life-altering event forces Bill and Kate to face their feelings of guilt, rage, blame, self-discovery -and ultimately hope- so that they can finally see each other and their chance for happiness again with clear eyes.

I am one of the producers of this film and I appreciate all your comments. The LA Times said that Maria Bello was deprived of an Academy Award nomination for her role as the mother. The fact is that the cost of lobbying the Academy for a nomination exceeded the total production cost of the film! It is a powerful film delivered by two world class actors, an outstanding writer and director, and a production staff that I hope to work with again in the future.

I think this is a very powerful movie. Many people forget that the families of the ones who do the crimes can also be victims so I am glad that this part of the story is also being told.

From the trailer this looks to be a story that needs to be told. Victims of crimes get all the attention. Some would say 'as it should.' But, as others have said parents and family members of the culprit are also victims. Pain, denial, regret and should haves. This is a story to be told and many to watch. Good luck with it.

God I want to see this movie. I was thinking about it recently when thinking about the parents and friends of the boston bombers. How do you mourn for someone you loved when they have caused such loss and such hate. I can't imagine ever being in that situation.

It's a lot deeper than that. The movie is about how the parents cope. How they are vilified by the media though they did nothing wrong. It also looks at how the parents try to assign blame to each other, or themselves. The trailer gives you the basics but it's a much deeper movie than it seemed. I saw the trailer and waited a year for it to come out. The day it hit rental we got it and my wife was a mess by the end.

Nice spoiling trailer lol so i guess he killed alot of people in a school shoot-out and then killed himself, then the rest of the film is probably them trying to move on done end
