State Senator Vincent Fort was in midtown taking part in a demonstration called "Fighting Foreclosure," Tuesday, April 21. 2009
ATLANTA - A crowd of protestors gathered outside of a major bank in midtown Atlanta Tuesday.
Senator Vincent Fort led the protest against predatory lending.
More than 200 people marched back and forth crowding in front of a Wachovia bank office.
"We believe home owners need a bailout, not just big banks," said state Senator Vincent Fort.
Georgia has one of the highest foreclosure rates in the country.
Tuesday they were protesting what they call predatory lending.
They walked in a letter in support of 68-year-old Avonia Carson.
She's facing foreclosure on her home of 37 years.
"They give you the charge cards. You get all the mail and it's almost like they push you to get the loan," said Avonia Carson.
Carson's monthly mortgage payment is nearly her entire monthly income.
"The very nature of that loan was that it was totally unaffordable, the lenders understand that the customers don't very well," said Bill Brennan of Atlanta Legal Aid.
That's why organizers said they were protesting.
They were protesting in front of Wachovia. But organizers said this could be any big bank, any big lender.
They said they'll bring the fight to those banks too.

God bless you. Keep up the great work. I loved the way that you guys went into the bank and confronted the people there. I bet that you made the coustomers in there think twice about who they were doing business with. Turn up the heat and Wachovia will realise that they have f**ked with the wrong people

Even Obama doesnt get it... if you give the auto makers MONEY it just buys time.. you and i dont have any money to buy a new vehicle....BUT if they GIVE THE PEOPLE THE MONEY then we could all go buy a new car/truck and the auto makers would no longer NEED a bail out.,... HELLO...IS ANYBODY LISTEING - subscribe to my channel and tell me how would you spend your share of the bail out money if Gov gave it to THE PEOPLE
