And when I see the sign that points one way
The lot we used to pass by every day

Just walk away Renee
You won't see me follow you back home
The empty sidewalks on my block are not the same
You're not to blame

From deep inside the tears that I'm forced to cry
From deep inside the pain that I chose to hide

Just walk away Renee
You won't see me follow you back home
Now as the rain beats down upon my weary eyes
For me it cries

Just walk away Renee
You won't see me follow you back home
Now as the rain beats down upon my weary eyes
For me it cries

Your name and mine inside a heart upon a wall
Still finds a way to haunt me, though they're so small

Just walk away Renee
You won't see me follow you back home
The empty sidewalks on my block are not the same
You're not to blame

  • i love to hear elliott say "what about a cover" you can really hear how sweet of a person he was in his voice

  • A fun , layed back version. Elliots voice was so soft and whispery, haunting.

Rest in Peace dear Elliot some people are to beautiful for this sad world.

    You were so young.. forever

  • @Harrehoople Its really amazing, he touches people's hearts with his amazing, and harsh, music, but sometimes, people never listen. Its like the Joy Division lyrics, no one thought at the time that they meant anything, but then Ian Curtis killed himself and then they realized that what people like Elliott and Ian sing and write about its their lives, and they all mean it.

  • @xwexarexbulletsx Elliott's troubles are what made him amazing. "Because I took my own insides out" in King's Crossing is what he was about and why every listener becomes a part of his life, his pain and untimely death not only through his brilliant and gutsy lyrics but his amazing way to emphasize them perfectly with his music. How lucky we all are to have a glimpse of perfect talent and genius that we can revisit over and over again.

  • First goose bumps ,then tears, then smiles......Miss you

  • Seriously, there is no Elliott Smith song that couldn't make me feel amazing. He was an amazing musician, an amazing person, a troubled man but an amazing one nonetheless.

  • "settle for an epitaph like walk away renee....." dear old belle and sebastian and elliott together in my mind.

  • He did seem like a sweet, gentle person & oh, so talented. He was probably too fine a person for this often brutal world that kicks sensitive people to the ground like they were an empty tin can.

  • hey thankxs so much for posting this! peace!
