My Gibson Les Paul Standard 1990 model in Wine Red. This was for a long time my main gigging guitar. It is now returned to the pickup configuration I used then. This DiMarzio Super Distortion Humbucker DP-100 I bought back in the 70's. The neck pickup is the original Gibson 490R that came with the guitar. The track is played through my Line6 PODxt

  • has the dimarzio nice cleans ?

  • @socratesvak on its own it can sound a little brash when clean although if you dig in for a country solo through a clean valve amp it absolutely scorches ! Sounds nicer with twin pickup sound on LP when clean.

  • Hi dear, is your DiMarzio the Early SUPERDISTORTION on Paf design with 3 wires only? made around the 70s? I have one, but I never installed it.

  • @MALSTROM02 Yes my older on is a Super Distortion the PAF was a different pickup. However it is 3 wire. One black one white and then the shielding braid. Install it !!

  • fuck line 6. everything from them has a horrible mettalic, kissy tone. having said that, you're playing is top notch.

  • @Mattukgtr Yeah the original SD is great

  • hi Matt, one of the best blues-videos on YT ! such a great tone ! raw & vital ! cut down to the essential notes in your own style !!! thank you for that ! LES greets from berlin/germany

  • sounds AMAZING with that bit of overdrive... how does it do in a high-gain setting?

  • Smokin' blues jam my friend. Kudos to you!

  • just a great video. thanks so much for sharing this.

  • mmmmmmm DiMarzio Super Distortion :D

  • @JPCvids -THANKS!

  • @Rizenchaos NO!! The name Super Distortion arose in the 70s presumably because of the pickups ability to make a valve amp distort. If the amp is clean you get clean. The pickup overdrives the amp to get the distortion but it does so more easily than say a standard Gibson humbucker.

  • DOES IT MEAN IF YOU HAVE THAT PICK UP(DI MARZIO SUPERDISTORTION)THE SOUND IS DISTORTED EVEN YOUR NOT USING ANY GUITAR EFECTS PROCESSOR/EFFECTS/PEDAL?

  • you got chops bro

  • @Nobody2336 it depends. if you play heavy metal or hard rock, this definitely is for you. decent price. you can even choose what color you want.

  • Is that a Jimi Hendrix song in the beginning?

  • One thing is sure better you play less important are pickups

    Well done !

  • @Brndnrchrdsn85 YEAH ISN'IT UT AWSOME?!?!? =)

  • @Guitar8870 IS YOUR CAPS LOCK BUTTON BROKE LIKE MINE?

  • I'm looking for a pick-up to replace my Dirty Fingers Humbucker on my Tom DeLonge signature. Would this be any good? I was gonna get a Seymour Duncan Invader but I'm not sure. (Any advice would be GREAT)

  • i just got a set from the 80's for free. i cant wait to get them put in

  • Outstanding!

  • Killer tone!

  • @royalguard08

yeah. if they're the right size then it shouldn't be a problem.
