Who is this heyyou armchair youtube critic that doesn't even know industrialism didn't come from the 1940's? It came in about the latter part of the 19th century,,As nakedanvil said,,,show me a blacksmith that uses no power tools to make a living and I will show ya a guy that is starving. It is essential to know the fundamentals,,,,but try taking 4 hours ta draw out a callalily from a rr spike as opposed to an hour with a press,,,,just sayin

heyyou, first, blacksmithing is very much NOT a dying art; there are 4000 members in the national organization alone. second, you are welcome to your purist views, but water-operated power hammers have been around for hundreds of years. third, every blacksmith who wants to make a living needs a power hammer. try forging a 100-foot railing by hand. fourth, your definition of blacksmithing as solely hand-work is random nonsense, historically and factually. fifth, i love to hand-forge.

Hey I need to one of those.. I think I have seen you on I Forge Iron.. Thanks for sharing with us...Tom aka WagonMaster.
What is a '100 friction screw press'? Is that 100 pounds, 100 tons, 100 dollars?
Exactly, what tool are you making? Fuller? Swage?
Do you have another video of this press? One that shows more of the press? I want to see what it looks like.
