November 2nd 2009 I was on a return trip back from Plattsburgh, N.Y. and Desided to stop by at Port Kent, N.Y. Station to See the Amtrak. Once arriving, I relized that Today The Great Dome Car was on the Northbound Amtrak which was due at Port Kent at around 3pm. Running around 20 minutes late. I can finally hear noise from the other side of the mountain as 69 comes through Rockland Siding. Hearing the Dome Car's 3 Truck wheels before the roar of the Locomotive pulling it. I was impressed with the sound of the car and the rails making noise in front of me. So... well... the Video says the rest. Enjoy!
@Trainlover4ever2006 If you like domes, you'll have to ride private cars. Because a few do run around on Amtrak and toursit trains from time to time. Most were scrapped.

The last Amtrak dome, I think is from Great Northern's Empire Builder. Rio Grande Scenic has a few of the Santa Fe Big Domes and they do run around on Amtrak for time to time. I was just on a trip with them. We went to the Gulf to see it one last time before the oil came in. From Saint Louis June 2010 The Adirondack, should be a Tilt Train so they can take those ol D&H curves at higher speeds! Check out High Iron Tours website. And as the New Haven used to say "Train yourself to relax!"
