Kochi Metro Rail is pending approval with the Cabinet committee of Economic Affairs CCEA of the Govt of India. The Finance ministry of the Govt of India is objecting to the the public funded model for the project and insisting on a BOT/PPP public-private model. Govt of Kerala GoK and the project executing agency Delhi Metro Rail Corporation DMRC insists on public funded model and hopes to convince Finance Ministry of the viability of the project. DMRC Kochi office is all set to invite tenders once the CCEA approval comes through. GoK has also allotted Rs.158 crore to DMRC to complete the preparatory infrastructure works for the Metro rail.
