HI Scarlet Macaws in the high $1000s so they are just a tad more than the finches :-)

I'm looking to get a parrot (a Macaw, either a Harlequin hybrid or a Hyacinth) but I've never had a bird before and I want to make sure I know what I'm getting in to and I have the skills and knowledge to take proper care of one. Any ideas on where I can get materials on this sort of thing, and possibly a Macaw breeder in New England or New York, or maybe Quebec? I understand parrots and especially Macaws are a much greater responsability than a cat or dog so I want to be sure I do it correctly.
