Gregory van der Wiel - Ajax' Talented Right-Back

Gregory van der Wiel, the 21-year old right-back from Ajax, made his debut in the Eredivisie against Twente in 2007. He initially played as a center back, but Van Basten decided to position him on the right-back last season. After some impressive performances he managed to become first choice for the right-back; he even made it to the national squad of Holland, he debuted in February 2009 against Tunesia. Van der Wiel is defensively solid, yet his attacking qualities are more impressive. He knows when to attack and when not to attack, has a great pass, graceful technique and is one of the fastest players of Ajax. He has already been in the interest of Arsenal, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Manchester City.

The fans were treated like shit by the French police to even get to the match and for what? To see an entire lack of inspiration and spirit by the Ajax players. It was a terrible match. Van der Wiel made this offensive gesture towards them after the match.

@moluksefreefighter01 Gotta agree here. Van der Wiel's playing a terrible season this year. A huge difference with last year. And the worst part about it is that he's not even willing to admit it, he keeps blaming it on a lot of factors, except for himself. He also disrespected the away-fans at the Auxerre-Ajax game. Can say I lost a big deal of respect for him.
