  • would you recommend the Bearlake6? just looking on you tube: 'water ingress NEW Outwell Bearlake 6 tent:', shows that its not rainproof.

  • Hi @lactol2010 , The Bear Lake 6 is a fantastic tent, I have just watched that video myself,so I know what you mean. First of all the bear lake is a polycotton tent whic has no polyurethane coating on the fabric and hence no tape seams, what this means is that in order for the fabric to become weather tight it needs to be weathered (completly soaking) which allows the fibres to settle into place which in turn the cotton absorbs the water and expands to block any more rain. T

  • (sorry ran out of characters) basically the tent on the video has possibly not been weathered , after all it is only happening on the front panel which is usually covered mostly by the canopy, so that area may not have been weathered at all until they got horizontal rain. Remember the bear lake is essentially an old fashioned canvas tent but rather than be completely cotton it has 65% cotton and 35% polyester making it lighter and quicker drying. In short the bear lake is a truly quality tent.

  • sorry just seen the other video's they have posted, we have had a bear lake pitched up all year on the display grounds and once weathered they don't leak. The main reason people buy a polycotton tent is the breathability ( next to no condensation) but where as the standard synthetic tents are plastic coated(PU) on the inside you get a lot of condensation and damp ness inside. I would personally say the bear lake is possibly my favorite tent at present available, and I'm fussy! hope that helps.

  • I have yet to pitch our Bear Lake 6 and the instructions that come with it are a joke. This video will be a great help, A few questions though.

What was the sheet dragged in at the end? Does the tent floor attach seperately?

We have a ground sheet that cam with the tent. Should this be placed down first before pitching the tent on top?

Are there any other step-by-step documents on how to pitch this tent I can print out and take with me?

  • The sheet dragged in at the end is the pvc floor which just needs zipping on once the outer is up. If you have a footprint groundsheet this pegs to the ground first and the tent pitches onto it. No step by step instructions that i am aware of , but this video well hopefully have helped you, let me know!

    thanks for watching

What's the guy's name ...skippy? Nice one mate.

  • I love our BL6, went up a treat in July, going to france next week , hopefully it will keep us cooler than the old tent.

  • Hi just want to point out that Outwell tents don’t need ‘weathering’. This can be confirmed by visiting the official Outwell FAQ page.
