For the past few years, one of the largest grain elevators in the area (Tyson in Albertville, AL) has been using solely barges and trucks to operate. With the recent flooding on the Mississippi river those ammenities became scarce so they once again have had to rely on rail deliveries. This is one of those deliveries which has been taking place twice a week. This is the second delivery since resuming rail use. Trains of this length are rare here, but may become common place again soon.
Enjoy the sights and sounds as ATN's M715 job works hard both up and down steep the grades of the area with heavy loads and 4 classic EMDs doing all they can.
On a side note, this train almost experienced a major issue in Guntersville. My camera's battery failed after the last shot shown (another long story LOL) so I couldn't get video of this. After dropping 14 cars in a siding, they were left with 25 cars and 4 engines. The wye track in Guntersville can only handle 4 engines and 26 standard sized cars max due to length of track, however the last few hopper cars (bound for Wayne feeds) are longer than standard. At one point the engineer actually had to get out of the cab and ensure that tracks were present under tall grass and dirt as this was the first time in many years that section of rail had seen a train. They finally cleared the wye's switch with about 20ft of track remaining.
All of this made for a very long day for the crew and they ended up "outlawing" in Albertville at 6:30 that evening.
Thank's for watching!

@BamaRailfan Great videos of the ATN? Does the ATN still run the grain trains to Ivalee?

@rallen519 Thanks! Yes they do. The schedule is unpredictable though as it's on an 'as needed' basis.
