I agree, these knitting videos help so much. I kept rereading my instructions over and over and it didn't quite make sense until I watched this and saw the finished result.

I've always used a ssk decrease instead of the sl1,k1, psso decrease. Is there any advantage?

In addition to shaping there are some decorative effects produced by each of the decreasing techniques Choice depends on the effect you are trying ot achieve.

Both of these give a slant to the left but there is a more obvious paterinng in the technique I have demonstrated.

oh Dorret, just lovely! I tried every which way to work out my pattern instructions, no joy!
This solved all my confusion,
I can feel myself drawn into a 'soxoholic' bliss.
Many many thanks.

Great you´re taking your time to make a tutorial, but as a concept for learning true beginners sock-knitting, you are way too fast on the progress of the difficult parts of counting and showing how to skip masks, I think. It´s a bit frustrating to start out freshly on a tutorial just to realize you can´t follow because the explaining is too superficial halfway thru. Starting out on one number of masks (30) and then changing the number (41) is really confusing. I recommend slowing down a bit!
