When I first heard this song (which was pretty recently), I wondered what the chipmunk-like voices in the background really sounded like if they had the right pitch. So, luckily, I have finally downloaded software that allows me to change pitch. Here is the end result...

  • this is stupid. do you think you made it sound better? i pray no one gets a hold of your hack-job and believes this crap is the real version. disgraceful!!!

  • @uglylenny Wait... You think my intention was to make it sound better? Yeah, I really was out to try to outdo the original so that people would believe that it's better. Who in their right mind would do that to a Pink Floyd song? If anyone thinks this was the first version, they probably didn't know Pink Floyd in the first place, or they just didn't take the time to read my description under the video where I say it's a pitch change. Have a nice day trolling around!

  • Thanks for doing this. This is great. I've often wondered if Syd was the chipmunk! Sure sounds like him to me.

  • you're welcome. :D

yeah, it is syd... at least that's what wikipedia says. xD i think i agree with that, though. :D

  • I just really hope with all my heart, that hip hop artists don't discover this magnificent song, and turn it into a sell.

  • You should take out the voice completely just to see what it sounds like

  • @Adominae I was thinking the same thing, it would be great to just hear syd sing. I love the song but for me I can only listen to the bbc live version, the sped up voice quickly gets old after a few listens.

  • Thanks for doing this. It's nice to hear Syd's vocal and how he went about pulling this song off. lol One of his best, imo. Too bad some do not get the humour... It would be really cool if you could phase out Mason's vocal altogether here....

  • @Ratelzwatel I hate to defend wiki but in this case it's correct. Syd sang the high vocal. Just listen to it. Who else has that voice?

  • this must have been frustrating keeping time with a slowed up recording!

  • Syd Barret sang this. He sings it in a unusual voice. he was trying something different, He liked doing that...............

  • sexiest ever. i know it's not the main thing to write about in a comment under a song like this, but ...

  • where can I fIND This version , cause i have a bootleg album with the bbc version

  • @kristinathemocker Wikipedia is wrong here. It's obviuosly same voice as the one from the main vocal: Nick Mason.

    Syd Barrett's voice is different.

  • @limpidgreen07 The chipmunk sounds like the same voice as the person who did the normal, main vocal: it's NICK MASON.

It's one of the very few instances where Mason sings.

Syd Barrett only does the "bottles on all fours"-line in the main vocals.
