death of the smith machine.. finally

@Spacecowboyy I thought of this but then it occurred to me If you are benching and you are putting pressure on the bar your chest rises a few centimetres but when your not putting any effort into lifting and are resting on the bench your chest will be at a lower level, a resting level. for example if you were unable to lift the weight. right? so there really is no need for such an exact measure because you will be able to increase or decrease the gap between you and the bar using your chest?

looks pretty good and in terms of safety, that is obviously covered..however dont like the whole look to it, seems all to complicated for my liking. takes away from the simplicity a workout can really be.

@darinvents maybe i didn't really explain myself that well. what i mean is, the holes are preset, so the locks can only be set to the height of those holes. there would be no way for you to set the locks at the height of the space in between the holes. does that make better sense? i think it'd be cool if someone invented a way where you could set it to any finite height within range down to the 0.001 centimeter, instead of having preset holes with preset heights. just a suggestion.

@Spacecowboyy it'd be awesome if the safety lock could be set to any position down to the last centimeter for maximum flexibility. not dissing your invention or anything, it's still a very remarkable achievement.

Hey Darin,
This is another GREAT invention of yours!
hi. i'm the only thing im wondering about this machine is if you could get a full range of motion. But otherwise, great invention!

@AlexZhao319 Thanks Alex for your question. Of course you can achieve a full range of motion. The safety spotters are fully adjustable to your desired resting position. Power Racks and Smith Machines use the very same system. This prototype was built off of a Tuff Stuff half rack so the spacing of the spotters is standard in the fitness industry. Check out Power Racks and Smith Machines and you will see that their safeties all work exactly the same.

this pretty innovative, but i have a question. i'm curious as to whether you'd be able to go the full range of motion on flat bench touching your chest and still have the safety spot still catch it. the holes that are preset, so depending on your chest size, some might have the safety lock just about the chest, or some just below the chest, since the hole is in a fixed position and going one step up or down would be too much of a gap.

@Spacecowboyy Thanks for your question. In the video I choose not to do a full range of motion to protect my shoulders from injury. The safeties are fully adjustable. The holes that are preset are exactly the same as the preset holes that are used on Power Racks and Smith Machines. This prototype was built off of a Tuff stuff Fitness Half cage. The spacing is exactly as the above mentioned machines and considered standard in the industry.

Great twist on the smith. Few questions though can you make it sturdy enough then add a pull up bar also I've seen in your other videos the lat pull down does it come preattached lastly when will it come out and what will the price be

@hkfdajkfjda Thank you for your comment and questions. Yes it can be built as sturdy as any Smith machine or Power Rack and can include a pull up bar and dip bar if desired. That lat pull in my other video was an option however, this machine could be equipped with a 200lbs weight stack high and low pulley. This machine is not currently licensed but when produced, the price would be comparable with other home gyms.
