With e-book readers and tablet computers becoming ever more commonplace, the role of the library could be greatly enhanced -- but clunky copyright laws seem to be holding back the possibility of progress. How can we better facilitate the lending of digital literature in the 21st century to better serve readers without hurting authors and publishers?

  • Library.

  • I mainly use the Kindle store or Project Gutenberg. Out of all the e-book systems I've used, the Kindle had the best reading experience, a decent selection of free and paid books to choose from, and buying books was quick and simple since I already had an account with Amazon.

  • @podcastbard support your favorite author.

  • @MrRobertBaker1 Pirating will in time give us less choice for the simple fact that if a favorite author of yours has to go out and get a Walmart job because they can't make any money from their creation: they will publish less because they'll have less time and money to buy what they need to live on. Then, all that we'll be left with is crap.

  • The dead tree publishers don't have faith in their authors to create new content. That's what gets people to buy books -- good content --- good story. These dead tree publishers will find themselves smelling the exhaust of the new authors who know what it really means to be an author.

  • DRM on books is like the Nazi's in WW2 burning books.

  • I've downloaded a number of lockergnome Ebooks in the past. All very well put together and DRM free. Thankyou.

  • I miss the "E ya later" at the end of the videos... I know it was recorded live, but still...

  • I hate my life :)

  • I download them as PDFs for free! :) It's not stealing it's just copying!
