Birds kind of sound like an old distorted radio when they talk.

@IvanRox95 Greys are notoriously skittish & easily frightened. Their instincts tell them to fly when frightened, so yes, they will fly off you outside. When outside, they are in an environment that is not familiar to them, so anything can scare them and make them fly away. If you look at missing birds, Greys top the list. You never want to take an African Grey outside unless it's in a cage/harness. I don't trust harnesses, so Skyla goes out in a cage. If they fly away, you may never find them.

@Skyla100 thanks ive been looking to get one. i figure around the end of may i should have enough money and i can use the summer to bond with him/her. one more question. do they fly off if you take them outside?
-
@IvanRox95 The cost depends on the source. Breeders tend to be cheaper than pet stores & usually, you will end up with a bird that has been socialised more. I would advise to do research in your area & look for a reputable breeder. I'm not sure what you mean by 'are they like that at night?' Skyla usually goes to sleep by around 9. She has periods throughout the day/night that she talks and sings. Nobody can predict when she will be talkative. It depends on her mood. She doesn't talk on command.

@XxXDeathlyHallowsXxX Thanks! Her first word was pizza and her first noise was the microwave beeps. :)
Beautiful bird! (And beautiful cage, too!) Do you have other birds? We have a Sengal that is a few months old and will add a Tinmeh when breeder says they're ready. Did you have training sessions with Skyla on her speech or did she just pick it up? In regard to other posts, I think, more than initial costs, people who want a bird companion should be less concerned about how much they cost and more concerned about how to care for them for 30 - 60 years and provide a good quaility of life.

@mollylorraine Yes, we also have a Green-cheeked conure and a lovebird. There are some videos of them on here too. Halo, my GCC had a very bad beak injury and lost her entire upper beak. There are videos on here of her recovery and of her learning to eat without her upper beak. Because of the amount of damage, her beak will never grow back. She is completely independent now and doesn't seem to mind. She's a happy bird. I love Senegals. Good luck with your Timneh too. You're in for a treat. :)
