Two's Company was a benefit for the Los Angeles City College Alumni and Associates at the Alex Theater in Glendale, November 2007. It was an all-star evening of Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz songs (the composers were in attendance), introduced by alumni Cindy Williams. Here's The Life I Never Led from Sister Act, lyric by Glenn Slater, sung by Beth Malone, who did the premiere of the show at the Pasadena Playhouse. Musical direction by Richard Berent, directed by Bruce Kimmel.

  • No, methinks YOU'RE the spaz. It must be so much fun to be fifteen.

  • I know it's hard not to be young, and that you're a KRJ fan-atic, but if you don't see the excellence of Beth's performance (she created the role, you know) then I don't know what to tell you.

  • What, did the KRJ fan club show up? Beth owns this song.

  • Absolutely phenomenal - song, voice, performance, all of it. That last held note (15 seconds!) would bring down any house.

  • Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you.

  • this is me..... I mean the lyrics.... she's amazing

  • Alan Menken's signature in every note of this wonderful song. Could have been in one of those Disney movies like "The Little Mermaid" or "Rapunzel". :)

  • I legit get goosebumps everytime I watch this

  • @LE3C

    probably talking about the reprise...

  • @astrantia2k, how strange that you think Malone is finishing on a " lower key" . It is in the exact same key, start to finish. Do you mean lower note? Actually it is a higher note - she is yelling on a 'C1' right from the chest and Rowley Jones ends, gently, on an 'F' BELOW that. Please tell me why you think it is a higher note. Perhaps you are confused by the softer approach?

  • she sounds great. but what a spaz.

  • I worked on this show when Beth was is it and she brought down the house every night!

  • She's fantastic! What a voice!
