Pulled this one from the ROBBS METALWORKS archives for all the fans of Bay area thrash. I know we all revere the legendary, EXODUS! This interview conducted with guitarists, Gary Holt and Rick Hunolt, was completed at the White Rabbit here in San Antonio on May 2nd, 2004. I've always considered this piece of work a special gem for many reasons: 1. it marked the return of the band to the music scene after a long hiatus - you'll see Gary share that it was due to the band's drug use. 2. it also highlighted the band's reunion with vocalist, Steve 'Zetro' Souza, & the killer release, 'Tempo of the Damned' which the band was supporting at that time. (I love that record!) 3. this was the last tour & cd that Rick did with the band. He subsequently left Exodus due to family issues back home, so we were very happy to have him in front of the camera that day. I am & always have been a HUGE Exodus fan, so I'm glad to re-release this to other fans of the band, now all over the world,....(don't forget new dvd coming out in 2010 - go to www.exodusattack.com for more info ;) Enjoy people & expect to see more video from El Mero Metal VERY SOON! ~ Robb Chavez

  • Hard to reconcile the grinning, riffing wildman I remember from the 80s with the guy I see here...tough to see Rick like that. He could have just been having a lethargic day, though.

  • @119rules Hes hmm, I am not sure exactly what he's on, but I think it's meth or crack or speed. He looks like shit in the dynamo performance.

  • @moshin68 sooo... were you a member of exodus?!

  • Rick is a good guy. Hes partied harder than all of us...thrashed harder than all of us...and as Gary said...weve all got our demons. Rick stepped in to replace Kirk Hammet...and filled out THOSE shoes. Rick is a good guy.

  • Cool interview. Gary hasn't aged much at all.

  • @IMBACHABRI wow he must be really good with numbers then

  • Rick Hunholt & Gary Holt : H-team!!! Insane thrash duo from the 80's & 90's. I remember a contest in Guitar World back in the day were you could win one of their signature Ibanez Voyager guitars and then get a day to hang out and jam with them. These guys were the fucking rulers. Wish Rick was back in the band, along with Zetro.

  • Gary looks so much healthier nowadays in more recent videos. So glad he got his shit together. I love these guys. I hope Rick is doing well. These guys were a huge influence on me.

  • Rick Hunolt is the best...but he looks with a hangover in a way...

the talkative Holt...just stop for a while man!

  • @119rules He is math addict,but i miss him a lot.
