There is actually a very drastic difference. Mass-production companies wind their pickups on a machine around the poles. Its a big square coil. Bareknuckle pickups have the winding slalom through all the poles. It reduces capacitance in the pickup, allowing a much brighter top end and more equal frequency response across all the strings.

@leftyguitarjoe Yes, the sides of a passive are smaller, but a passive PU is longer. I mean, a EMG has 89mm, and a passive (at least BKNs) has 95,5mm.

How did you do that routing? What tools did you use? Im planning to replace my EMG 707 in my hellraiser for BKN Aftermaths, but im not sure about how to do the routing, cause they are 6mm bigger :(

I hate covers, but it would be a lot better than a gaping hole..
