So what did all those soldiers die for?

More than four years and 2200 dead soldiers later, President Bush admits to the public that his "War on Terror" has been a complete and total failure.

From his 2006 State of the Union address.

  • totally taken out of context.

  • @TheInternetSurfer Please provide a "context" in which, after four years of fighting and 2200 dead American troops later, a report of ZERO progress is not failure.

  • he never said it was a complete failure he simply said that the enemy hasn't lost the desire or capability to attack us.

  • Thank you for reciting his words verbatim. Now think about what they mean.

  • in conclusion, i will admit to you that bush might have been a little perturbed with the war on terror but i see no reason for him to perturbed now with the progress that the United States has made.

  • Not sure why you needed three replies.

First, I didn't "put words in his mouth", I read between the lines. If you bothered to read the video description, this comment was made four years and 2200 dead soldiers later. If after all that, "the enemy has not lost the desire or capability to attack us", then truly, their strategy for four years has been a total failure.

"Weakened al Qaeda"? Did invading Iraq "weaken al Qaeda" in Afghanistan, Pakistan or Yemen?

  • This is a typical video by dumbshit liberals. No where in the video does he say the war is a total failure. You fools are incredibly stupid.

  • I know this is controversial, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find a worse president of the United States, period. I think he's crippled the foreign influence of the USA in a time when it was crucial to oppose China. Maybe it seems pessimistic, but I think in 20 years, the extent to which Bush contributed to the decline of the USA will be fully and awfully apparent.

  • "WAR ON TERROR" was the most ridiculous phrase ever, how can you declare war on an intangible concept? It FAILED before it even started because it was a breathtakingly insane notion from the beginning. Obama knows this, and that's why he never uses that phrase in public, ever.

  • anyone who thinks the war in iraq was on terror get your head out of your ass and wake up stupid. that war was about oil investments lol

  • @HistoryBoy23 bush should be executed. blair too. maybe even clinton.

i don't think I even need to say why.

They've been committing war crimes for over a decade and no one's doing anything about it because after all USA is brainwashed and controlled by fox news.

  • besides, this was in 2006 when he said this. we are currently in the year 2010. to say, now, that we have not weakened Al-Qaeda is absolutely absurd.

  • i'd rather be repetitive, than to be putting words into other people's mouth. if you can think of a way that he implied or admitted that the War on Terror was a Total Failure, then we'll talk.
