Released in 1969, this was The Hill's only stand-alone single (they were Chris Farlowe's backing band at the time), and one of the last singles released on Immediate. It was only released in the USA and Canada. It failed to chart...such a shame...
The members of The Hill were:
- Steve Hammond (1939-1989) -- guitar
- Bruce Waddell -- bass
- J. Peter Robinson (1945-) -- keyboards
- Colin Davy -- drums
I haven't got a clue who the vocalist is (I have a feeling its Steve Hammond, but I can't be certain). Although the single pictured says "produced by The Hill", it was actually produced with Stuart Mackay (I say "produced with" because The Hill might have had some involvement with the production).
The original single was in mono. However, a stereo mix of 'Sylvie' has been made available, and it is this stereo mix that I've uploaded (because it sounds a lot clearer than the mono version -- plus the stereo version has some killer piano chords which aren't in the mono version). The b-side is only OFFICIALLY available in mono, though a stereo mix of it has surfaced unofficially.
Excellent song! I like the "groovy" feel to it.
