@snk2468 yes. manx cat is another that is born with stubby tail. wild bobcat also has very small tail.
-
Oh my god, what happend to the poor kittys tail?! Thats terrible.. Cats need theyre tail for many things. I wont be able to sleep tonight.
-
aww wheres the kittys tail?):
-
They obviously don't need them for basic balancing, since the cats here get around just fine. Come to think of it, though, I have never seen a bobtail fence-walk or do other fine balancing tricks, so they probably do come up a bit short in that department.
-
but don't they need their tails to move around? like fish do? and other animals? don't they need the tails for balance?
-
Hmmm... I think it's filtering out my comments as spam when I put URLs in. Anyway, go to Wikipedia and put in "Japanese Bobtail".
"The short tail is a cat body type genetic mutation caused by the expression of a recessive gene. Thus, so long as both parents are bobtails, all kittens born to a litter will have bobtails as well."
-
genetic? how can that be? I mean are there really cats that are born that way?
-
That's normal in Japan. When I first got here, I thought there was a custom to cut them off or something, but apparently it's genetic.

The poor thing dosen't have a tale :(
There is little it to this||these kitten, but there is the bone of the tail, too. Balance is well cheerful, too.
I am sorry that I am behind my wife most.
