Lyrics:

Here we're screaming for redemption
For discretion
For direction to the show

Sing it loud and they will hear us
Then disappear us
Once we've served our purpose, so

Will you tell me: What should I be?
I'm no suburban diety

Chorus:
I can't change the way I see the world
I stand up and fight for what I don't deserve
I know I can't justify my reasons
Just tell me the way I ought to feel
What's right and wrong and which of them is real
And I'll try to amplify my irony

Pass the test without an answer
Feed the cancer
Learn the dance and take a bow

Pray that they will never find out
Clean my mind out
No more fear and no doubt now

I can see it
I believe it
You can leave it up to me

Chorus

High School Choir:
(Gloria in excelsis meo)
(Et in suburbia pacem)

  • a;lskdfa;lsdk i'm in the chorus!

  • @whywhatwhenwherewow Um, no, the song is definitely "in Excelsis meo". It's a bit of a pun. "Gloria in Excelsis Deo" would mean "Glory to God in the highest," but that's not what they're singing. ""Gloria in Excelsis meo" would be "Glory to me in the highest". It fits the point of the song - or did you not listen to any of the other lyrics? A doxology is a hymn of praise. This happens to be a hymn of praise to oneself, not to god.

  • @worlebird Oh god am I a nerd. I saw "3 weeks ago 8 thumbs up" and immediately thought "log2(8)=3, hehe"

  • @Dinnopop * insert Homestuck reference here*

  • @worlebird godamn never thought i id meet someone intelligent on youtube :)

  • @whywhatwhenwherewow I think the band know their own lyrics. It's 'meo', this song is a song of praise to oneself.

  • THIS EXPLAINS ME! I FIGHT FOR WHAT I DON'T HAVE TO. I DO WHAT I DON'T NEED TO

  • @NCISMentalisTFormers Yes. The band as a whole is from Chicago/land.

  • "Gloria in Excelsis Deo"...not meo. Someone already pointed out the fact that you spelled deity wrong, and capitalize Deo for certain (it's "God"), the whole thing means "Glory to God in the Highest" and is the reason for the title Suburban Doxology...a Doxology being a work to lift up God.

  • Five songs in, and my voice hurts sooo bad. Oh well, what can you do? *SINGS LOUDER*

  • @Hikowas The one in Illinois?
