Kettei-sen( Play-off) du Natsu 1991. Victoire par Katasukashi de Yokozuna Asahifuji sur Ozeki Konishiki. Les deux sekitori avaient terminé le tournoi à égalité avec 14 victoires pour 1 seule défaite (Konishiki concédant sa première défiate quelques minutes avant ce Kettei-sen contre le même Asahifuji). Le Yokozuna remporte son 4e et dernier Yusho en division Makuuchi.

千秋楽本割の一番で１敗の旭富士が無敗の小錦に勝利し、優勝決定­戦に。そしてその決定戦でも旭富士が小錦に下手出し投げで下して­、見事旭富士の逆転優勝。

旭富士は横綱昇進後初の幕内優勝を果たしましたが、残念ながらこ­れが最後の優勝でもあったんですね。

Up until the final day of this tournament, I expected him to, if not make yokozuna, at least tease us with the possibility for a long time (much like Kaio did later). He had a one-match lead over Asahifuji; he only needed to win *one of two* against him to take the yusho.

And didn't.

For a kid who was a pretty big fan of sumo at the time, this was more crushing than Douglas over Tyson.

I never cared much what happened to him after this.

Asaihifuji was one of my fave sumo rikishi, he was so skillful and should have been more successful than he was.
