Oh yeah! I keep telling folks, this "Star Trek vs. Star Wars" nonsense is played out. ILM also did the effects for the Star Trek movies. It was the success of Star Wars in '77 that made Paramount get to work on STar Trek: The Motion picture in '79. In the reverse, George Lucas has said that it was the Original STar Trek that helped his love of science-fiction and thus, helped him make Star Wars.

What is even more amazing is EVERY SINGLE person was perfect for the role on TNG. If they had chosen anyone else to play any one role(especially Picard and Data) the show could have quite possibly failed. Everyone from Picard to Chief O'Brien to Guinen to Q was played by the perfect actor. It was a flawless series. I somehow hope one more movie is made.

Star Trek TNG was such an amazing series. It reached out to the "next generation" to love Star Trek not growing up with the original. I grew up with TNG, the first episode coming out when I was 5 and was hooked. It has always been a huge part of my life, fueling my love for space when I was a child.

One of the best STNG Ep for me is: Who watches the watchers?

I want a white spacesuit like John Tesh has for Christmas.
I love this show. In retrospect, I can see how it seemed very odd to have a new crew and a new ship. But overall, what made this show work so well was that it was just plain fun. I also loved the ship, it looked very comfortable.
Every new Star Trek has a new crew that you have to get used to. But as long as the characters are interesting, and the stories are compelling, that's all that matters.

@sammycut1 I agree. Star Trek has such a vast and interesting concept that if the storytelling had always been limited to just to one crew, i.e. Kirk & Spock's crew, it would have been a huge waste.

The 1st season was pretty good, although the show did get better afterwards.
