hi im thinking about getting one of these except in 44 magnum. do you think the 44 vershion will be just as good as a survival gun? thanks!

    - Absolutely, I just prefer the 357 because it is more miserly on lead and powder and components are more scavengable than the 44 Mag version.

    - The 44 MAgnum is doable for smaller critters but I would go with 357 Mag which can take down deer humanely.

people dont realize (until now) what a "pistol caliber" rifle can do theses cartridges are powerful and with a sealed chamber and some brl length to add velocity they can do alot of damage to game at the 100 yd range that most ppl think only a high power rifle can do remember that back in the day 45 colt/44-40 in black powder were droppin decent size game

Another positive for synthetic stocks!! cram some stuff in there. so handy!! emergency ammo, firesteel, knife, fishline&hooks, paracord...imagination go wild. Ruger reliability, good ballistics, the ability to have a revolver on your hip in same caliber, also..don't forget shotshells are available too in 38/357. some short range possibilities there as well...Damn I can't think of a reason not to get one. Price is a little steep...but you really get the full package with this baby. SOLD !

I have one and it is joy to shoot. I shoots like a ruger 10 22 but can have the power of the 30-30 winchester with 180 grains.

Sold: This will be my next rifle. I am a 357mag reloader and hunter so it will fit me well.

Great video! The 77/357 in stainless may be my next firearm purchase. I would use the .38sp rounds on smaller game and target practice, and save the .357 for deer and hogs. The weapon can be cleared of ammo faster than a levergun, and very easy to clean after a day at the range. I used to own a 77/.22mag version.

  • MajorPandemic .

I have not reviewed either of those, but the Ruger is a bullet proof bolt action in stainless. So far one of my favorite rifles.
