Shot from Pella, Iowa KCCI-TV webcam on 6 June 2006. This is the best lapse of convection we have generated in 4 years of the network. The updraft velocities are tremendous and you see ice ejection at the top.

  • why did the storm get shorter? or did it move farther away?

  • @RoSs3897 Hi, yes the storm is moving away from the camera to the south and east of the camera.

  • This is the most spectacular footage I've seen of a time-lapsed supercell and how much you can appreciate it at this speed due to the growth. It's also the only time you can really see the driving force of the upper level jet steering it E-NE. Great footage!!

  • it looks like its bubbling

  • thats awesome

  • SUPER...!

  • Is it just me, or does it looks like a nuclear bomb going off?

  • @anasbinqamar

Based on the fact that this is in Iowa, I doubt its very mountainous. The updraft is just because the air is that unstable.

  • dude, is ur area mountanious and is that the reason of that updraft?

  • super !

  • that overshooting top is amazing and you can tell it's a supercell from the rotation and how long it doesn't weaken or dissipate.

  • Amazing!

  • wow i see the cap breaking at 0:16

  • holy cow that was just like BAM.
