@shootingaugust. Yeah thats basically what I've done. I knew the notes on the 5th and 6th strings sort of on accident from just learing the bar chords up and down the neck.If you know where the bar chords are then you know where each note on the 5th and 6th string is.and then I know that the 1st string notes are the same as the 6th string and the notes on the 4th string are always 2 frets higher.Ive started learning the notes 1 at a time. I know where all the A's and B's are.next Ill learn C ect

learn the 5th and 6th string notes, and then you can use the octave (the highest note in the power chord) to "paint" a lot of the other notes

fantastic teaching! thanks

crap. I thought you had discovered some secret to knowing each note without actually having to run through the fretboard and memorize them. I guess there are no shortcuts in guitar though

dumbass bartben75, go google music notes and then you can start teaching.

pick a guitar up now tune down a half step and tell me what note the 6th string is. man you just look like a dumbass right now lol

thanks for wasting 4 minutes of my life.
theres no such thing as d# or Eb, why did u still put it there?

Yeah, actually D#/Eb is what many woodwind instruments are tuned to. However there is technically no E#/Fb and no B#/Cb. The only time you'd ever run into one of those keys is if you were reading music with a LOT of sharps or flats. In that case, a B# would be C and Cb would be B.
