Would HyperTufa work for the bricks?
Can this be adapted to heat a home and/or indoor cooking? I'm thinking that you would route the heat out through a chimney.

Don't know.
It's not optimized to heat a home. Using any stove indoors runs the risk of asphyxiation, and carbon monoxide poisoning.
