My second and final visit, for a first-hand view of Mitsubishi's 75" LaserVue television. In this segment, I obtained temperature readings on both sides of the television, and was allowed to pop in my Blu-ray version of Digital Video Essentials to take a look at overscan & geometry.

My buddy Todd & I had our daughters along for this trip, and it had been a long day for them. ...they were beginning to act up a bit.

The reseller had the LaserVue connected to a Bose system which was in "Demo Mode" and would allow only ten minutes of viewing the Blu-ray input before reverting back to demo mode. As you can see - the viewing angle is pretty sweet.

I was not at all impressed by Primetime Audio Video of Rockford, and cannot recommend them to anyone. While their price was competative, I obtained a far better price from OneCall.com with free shipping. Primetime was unable to match the free shipping.

OneCall.com - I can't say enough about them. They have earned my loyalty.

Note - aside from titles and transitional inserts, this video has not been edited or altered in any way. The lighting of the room was dimmer than what appears in the video, I suspect that my camcorder (Sony HDR-CX12) automatically compensated for the lower light of the environment. This has resulted in the television's brightness being altered and colors are somewhat washed out. It actually looks better than portrayed in my video! Also I purposely shot video from an extreme angle to illustrate the viewing angle of this set. Again it is far better in person than as portrayed in the video.

  • which movie it was at the end???

  • @umed92 - Sunshine (Starring Cillian Murphy & Captain America's Chris Evans). I wanted to see how the LaserVue handled contrast with extreme levels of light and dark in the same scenes. Unfortunately, the dim lighting of the showroom, combined with my attempt to zoom in for detail , and the drastic levels of bright and dark, played havoc with my HD camcorder's auto-focus. My videos do not do the television justice, but thanks for taking the time to view them, and check back for more!

  • Dude, compared to a Samsung LED, which one fits better to the colour saturation?

  • @EmmyDelight - I'd say that it is at the very least, "on par with", and can possibly even exceed the color saturation (and color gamut) of an LED set. The LED and Laser technologies are after all, very distant "cousins". Comparing the LaserVue to LED, I can say with great certainty that the LaserVue's black levels will exceed the average edge-lit LED (which does not have localized dimming).

  • @SpenceJT Good to know. I'm moving to a new, bigger house in half a year at most, and wanted to fullfill my fantasy of having a true HD tv with colours that would just piss on LED's. Dude, since you appear to be so kind, would you mind in the near future to film your tv playing Tron:Legacy at full hd? with all the levels you know... just wanted to make an idea of how the LED's from the movie would look on laser tec. Best regards.

  • @EmmyDelight - I'll see what I can do. I've got Tron: Legacy, I just need to find time. It has been nearly a year since my last video, so I'm about due for a "12 months later". I am open to any additional suggestions as to what people would like to see in any upcoming video. Granted, the flawless 3D cannot be reproduced, but nearly anything else goes!

  • @SpenceJT Ok! thanks

  • @SpenceJT I know and I understand that. Thanks a lot man. That clip of Tron that I am so excited about could make the difference in achieving one of these babies or not. I am already 90 percent sure that i want one.

  • I own this tv and I can tell you my $6000 I spent few years back was worth every dollar .. Still awesome ...

  • @Inferno288 - good question Inferno, and my only answer at this time, is "I don't know". Perhaps someone else can comment to this? I run my satellite STB through my AVR, which, with it's REON video chipset, scales SD sources up to 1080p. My BD is connected directly to my television, but it too scales 480p DVDs up to 1080p. What counts to me is the quality of the native high definition source material, be it BD, HD satellite, or ATSC "local" broadcasts, and it looks damn good to me.
