After 7 years of lobbying by members of SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has ended the dangerous practice of mandating health care workers to work overtime except in true emergencies. Here's what some of our members had to say the day the Senate voted unanimously to pass the bill.

  • IMO all Mandatory Overtime in every job out there from fast food cooks to doctors all over time should be illegal. i work in a factory and at one time before i worked there

they did Mandatory seven 12 hour days and one time they had it for 3 months stright

with no day off not once in that 3 months

  • (continued) ......Working in an ICU with 1-2 patients I assure you the acuity didn't match up with the acute care setting. Add to that being mandated for 4 hrs past the 12 hr shift you already worked creates an environment that sets you up for error. I don't know what kind of nursing you have had experience with, but the nurses I have worked with over the years ARE anything BUT lazy. Shame on you, maybe you should keep your postings on some paramedic site.

  • @cbflatline Typical paramedic narcissistic thinking pattern. I know there are thousands of days/nights I am literally running my ass off. Many nights I have in an acute cre setting step down unit 6-7 patients...these are patients with insulin gtts, heparin gtts, narcan gtts, extensive neurological traumas and ESLD patients who have multiple lines, gtts, and yet awake enough (stable enough) to climb out of bed; fall and because of their risk of internal bleeding need CLOSE monitoring !

  • PA Lpn's and RN's???? I am a Paramedic and you are a bunch of jokes. YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION AND GET OFF YOUR LAZY ASSES. Most of the problems come out of the nursing homes.

  • Thank you to all who helped pass the bill. But I doubt our Nursing home will follow the law.

  • Great video, thanks Matt--and thanks to everyone who helped get the bill passed!!!
