  • @ismokewead420 so what do you call someone who works machines? seriously?

  • @OMNISLASHER1000 machinists make things out of metal, not operate machines

  • I have an opportunity to become an apprentice machinist. I have not been to school for machining nor do i have any know how on the machines i will be working on. It would be for an oil rig company here in houston. I was wondering what types of things i would deal with being the low guy on the totem pole. etc grunt work/cleaning. Any information from somone in the field would be greatly appreciated.

  • @christm5 I went to a local technical institute for my machining training, now i'm a second year apprentice and yes there is a high demand for machinists and there always will be is what they say. CNC means Computer numerical control. I work in a production machine shop and honestly its the most boring thing. its not for everyone. like the guy below me said its hard because you have to work fast and be precise and accurate, but its now all like that.

  • @christm5 I was a machinist working several machines in a labelling factory when i was 16,they trained me too make large amounts of labels, from levi's,coke bottles too plain labels,it was far too hard for me though due too lifting heavy loads and constantly having too keep up the quota, also,i had too be very precise with every single batch and label i done,im 28 now and havent worked since due too social anxiety, but i looked this up too see if maybe i could go back too it,socially its freedom.

  • @Csabika30NY ummm no...

the best of the trade dont get laid off, and if they do lose work, its not hard to find more. the slackers, and people that arent as good as they think they are, are the ones that struggle.
