The poppy we wear each Remembrance Day is a way of saying thank you to the brave Canadian men and women who made extraordinary sacrifices for our freedom and helped forge our nation.

For the past 6 years in my role as MP, I have had the privilege of meeting many veterans old and young. And I can tell you without a doubt, you'll never meet more courageous, selfless, determined people than our veterans.

We honour those willing to place themselves in harm's way to stand up for what's right, and to protect the values that we as Canadians hold dear.

And we pray for their safety.

I encourage all Canadians to participate in Remembrance Day ceremonies taking place across the country ...or to simply pause for two minutes to remember the sacrifices that the poppy represents.

Lest we forget.
