Bernard King was banned from live cooking demonstrations at shows in Mackay and Brisbane in 1998 after the Brisbane-based cookware company Dine-Rite complained his comments about unmarried mothers and stillborn babies were distasteful. King had claimed the Mackay locals were so slow their "thongs don't even slap when they are walking" and the women had "big posteriors". He warned his Mackay audience that "if you don't brown it well enough it's going to come out like a stillborn baby". great !!
