For years, the dusty Eastern Oregon town of Hermiston was mostly known for its potato storage depots, lying in the heart of prime potato-growing country (think McDonald's french fries, here). Then, along came WalMart and a large distribution center for the Pacific Northwest.

Here's what some of that new-found fame (and money) has brought as you cruise along the main route through town.

  • Yep, that is the stupid (but lovely) garden in the middle of the highway going from Stanfield to Hermiston.

  • ya that is stanfield my aunt works at the walmart distibution center and mcdonlds french fies were made in hermistion at one time at simplot thats where my grandma worked man i miss free french fies
