St. Martins-in-the-Fields/Sir Neville Mariner - Canon in D

I know there are a lot of versions of of this classical piece on YouTube, but here is my absolute favourite rendition of Pachelbel's Canon in D Major, performed by the Academy of St. Martins-in-the-Fields and Sir Neville Mariner.

@vbbain The CD this recording is taken from is called 'The Classic Experience' and was released under the EMI Classical label in 1988. If you're attempting to buy the CD you should be aware that there are multiple follow ups to the CD called 'The Classic Experience II' and 'The Classic Experience III' so do be careful in selecting the correct CD. The track also appeared on 'The Very Best of The Classic Experience' which pooled tracks from all three outings.

This piece - there aren't the words to describe it. Whether great sorrow or great joy, this piece expresses it perfectly.

I have to agree that this rendition is truly the best rendition for this Baroque Era piece. I have owned 14 different renditions from a lot of famous conductors around the world, but none seemed to capture this piece's era as well as Sir Neville Mariner's. I often read criticisms about how his renditions of any piece seem to lack power, but this particular rendition of Pachelbel's Canon shows that sometime it doesn't take power and majesty to capture the Baroque era spirit!
