How do we know that the probes have not been destroyed in this long journey? Do they still send signals of some sort back to earth? Thanks.

The possibility of making contact with extraterrestrial life amazes me... But was it really smart to include details on our anatomy?

I think that these probes will continue until they get pulled into a gravitational field of an object in space or is smashed by a piece of space debris such as an asteroid. But even if these aren't destroyed, they have to be found by an intelligent life form that has the same sort of abilities as humans as in create a spacecraft to find the probes and then play them. But by then, if that happens at all, humans will be long gone and there will be no sign of our existence, but maybe these probes.
